Unitec Bachelor of Design graduate Anna Ward takes traditional beauty accoutrements – false nails and false eyelashes – and turns them into textural neckwear that trick the eye into seeing feathers or tassels.
Ward’s jewellery has a glamorous look and is more evening wear than day wear. She is inspired by the possibility of evening seduction and the pleasure of dressing well for a night out.
“I always loved dressing up, as a kid. And stage jewellery and make up are part of it – I was a dancer for 16 years, so I am familiar with those.”
A brooch made from electroformed false eye lashes brings these concepts wittily into play in her Camilla brooch.
