Fraser draws her inspiration for her designs from architectural forms, she has a fascination with geometric and angular shape formations, patterns and repetitive sequences. The outcome of this fascination with architectural form and geometry? Simplistic beautiful looking pieces.
Each piece that is designed and created by Fraser has very strong geometric features creating rigid structural looking jewellery. The combination of textures, polished metals and layering of materials creates a stunning visual piece. Fraser has managed to extract and simplify architectural form to produce beautiful geometric designs that hint a structural inspiration.
The contrast of materials combined with bold linear lines and geometry produce a distinctive contemporary graphic which can be seen throughout Kirsty Fraser’s jewellery and becomes recognisable to her design style.
Fraser designs and makes the jewellery herself and employs traditional and modern making techniques such as laser cutting to produce these lovely precise designs.
Fraser studied at the Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) and graduated in 2011, her designs for the degree show are stunning, These early designs show Fraser’s fascination with architectural and geometric forms which are at the core of her inspiration.
Fraser’s collections are made to order so you could own some of this sculptural jewellery. You can find Kirsty Fraser here for more information on her designs, available collections and exhibitions.
